Join with other men from around Kamloops as they gather together at First Baptist Church of Kamloops to eat a hearty breakfast together, enjoy humorous conversation, and be seriously challenged to live as a men created by God for the specific God-ordained purpose of leading in their homes, leading in their church, and leading within the larger community of Kamloops.

The Bible is clear that men are called to be leaders in their homes, their churches, and their communities. But one element of the curse of this fallen world is that men are always tempted to take a backseat when challenges arise, to shift responsibility to others, and sit silently when they should be outspoken and leading. This temptation is prevalent which is why King David felt specifically the need to remind his son Solomon from his death bed that Solomon's job before the Lord was to be a man, to honor God is his decisions and actions, and to lead from the front.

“I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn, that the Lord may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’” (1 Kings 2:2–4, ESV)

This same call given by King David to his son is taken up by the Apostle Paul and given to all men within the church:

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13–14, ESV)

The job description of men according to the Bible is to be alert and vigilant to both physical and spiritual dangers, to stand against those dangers in the defense and protection of those entrusted to their care, and to be strong in that regard. Anything short of this is unloving. Both King David and the Apostle Paul called upon the men to be men. The reminder from both of these godly men is an example to all men that they must first be the men God created them to be, and secondly, godly men must also regularly call upon other men to be men, reminding them of their job before God and encouraging them to honor that purpose. So join with the Christian men of First Baptist Church of Kamloops, and be encouraged and held accountable for being a man.
