Below is a summary of our statement of faith. The Bible We accept the 66 books of the Bible as God's inerrant and infallible Word to mankind, completely true and trustworthy in all matters pertaining to faith and practice. God We believe in God, manifested in the Trinity as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Christ We believe in the deity of Christ, that He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, was crucified and buried, has risen and ascended into heaven where He reigns at the right hand of the Father. The Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells and equips all born again believers in Christ. Satan We believe that Satan and his demons are real enemies of God and, though defeated, actively seek to bring men into bondage of sin. Salvation We believe in God's sovereign election and eternal security for all true believers. We believe that God created the world and mankind in a state of perfection. Man sinned and God chose to send His Son to die at Calvary to overcome the power of sin and death. We believe that all men are lost, totally depraved and unable to avoid punishment of hell apart from God's grace. Repentance of sin and faith in Christ are required by all who desire to enter God's presence and enjoy Him forever in heaven. Future Things We believe in the personal, visible, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church at His Second Coming. We believe in the resurrection of the dead and final judgement for all men. The righteous will be raised to eternal life and the wicked to eternal damnation. The Local Church We believe in the autonomy of the local church. Its members are born again believers who have been baptized by immersion following their conversion. Its officers are pastors and deacons, qualified men set apart by the Lord and officially appointed by the members. Its ordinances are baptism and the Lord's Supper, both to be granted to believers only. We believe in the priesthood of all believers. Christ, the head of the church, is our High Priest. Through Him we have direct access to the Father by prayer. Click on the Affirmation of Faith of our Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada for a more detailed statement. |
