DESCRIPTION:Join with other men from around Kamloops as they gather togethe
r at First Baptist Church of Kamloops to eat a hearty breakfast together\,
enjoy humorous conversation\, and be seriously challenged to live as a me
n created by God for the specific God-ordained purpose of leading in their
homes\, leading in their church\, and leading within the larger community
of Kamloops.\nThe Bible is clear that men are called to be leaders in the
ir homes\, their churches\, and their communities. But one element of the
curse of this fallen world is that men are always tempted to take a backse
at when challenges arise\, to shift responsibility to others\, and sit sil
ently when they should be outspoken and leading. This temptation is preval
ent which is why King David felt specifically the need to remind his son S
olomon from his death bed that Solomon's job before the Lord was to be a m
an\, to honor God is his decisions and actions\, and to lead from the fron
t.\n“I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong\, and show you
rself a man\, and keep the charge of the Lord your God\, walking in his wa
ys and keeping his statutes\, his commandments\, his rules\, and his testi
monies\, as it is written in the Law of Moses\, that you may prosper in al
l that you do and wherever you turn\, that the Lord may establish his word
that he spoke concerning me\, saying\, ‘If your sons pay close attentio
n to their way\, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart an
d with all their soul\, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.
’” (1 Kings 2:2–4\, ESV)\nThis same call given by King David to his
son is taken up by the Apostle Paul and given to all men within the church
:\n“Be watchful\, stand firm in the faith\, act like men\, be strong. Le
t all that you do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13–14\, ESV)\nTh
e job description of men according to the Bible is to be alert and vigilan
t to both physical and spiritual dangers\, to stand against those dangers
in the defense and protection of those entrusted to their care\, and to be
strong in that regard. Anything short of this is unloving. Both King Davi
d and the Apostle Paul called upon the men to be men. The reminder from bo
th of these godly men is an example to all men that they must first be the
men God created them to be\, and secondly\, godly men must also regularly
call upon other men to be men\, reminding them of their job before God an
d encouraging them to honor that purpose. So join with the Christian men o
f First Baptist Church of Kamloops\, and be encouraged and held accountabl
 e for being a man.
