The Christian can experience joy in the midst of trying circumstances because they believe in a sovereign God who has both allowed and is working through those circumstances to grow them in Christ-like character. Therefore, none of the trials that the Christian experiences are purposeless or meaningless, but they are part of the “all things that God is working together for the good of those who love him”. Romans 8:28
