Pontius Pilate asked one of the most important questions in human history: "What is truth?" Then he walked away without waiting for an answer.
Two thousand years later, the question hasn't changed. Today, we're opening John 18:28–19:16 — the trial of Jesus before Pilate — and asking what it means that the King of Kings stood calmly before the most powerful man in Judaea and bore witness to the truth, even when it cost him everything.
Today we look at three things:
- A King with a strange understanding of his kingdom
- A witness with a strange understanding of truth
- A prisoner with a strange understanding of power
