At First Baptist Church, we value children and family.  Taking seriously the Scriptural commands to teach the next generation, caring for the young ones in our midst and equipping parents to fulfill their God-given role as teacher and trainer is a top priority for us. This is why you'll find First Baptist Church to be a great family atmosphere, striving to build cross-generational relationships and embracing families of all shapes and sizes.

A typical Sunday morning begins with everyone worshiping together through hymns and worship songs, followed by a customized teaching and learning time for each age group.  You will find this to be a great time for every member of your family to learn and grow in their faith.

Babies through 2 years old are cared for in a loving nursery environment with our trained volunteers (nursing moms are welcome to stay with their babes). Parents will receive a pager to alert them if their child should need them.

Children 3 years through Grade 6 go downstairs to sing a few more songs together then are dismissed to classes further broken down by age.  Parents of all children Grade 1 and under are asked to go downstairs following the service to pick their child up.

Our week-day gatherings, known as Care Groups, often include a corresponding Children's Care Group. Contact the church office for times and locations.

Most years we hold a Fall Children's & Youth Choir, culminating with a Christmas performance--email Shanti at for more information!

Summertime at First Baptist Church is made memorable through our Vacation Bible Schools and Kid's Clubs. These are an unforgettable summer tradition for your kiddos!

In all these children's ministry activities, we enlist volunteers who have undergone RCMP background checks, training, and agreement to our children's ministry policies. These policies include making every effort to have two volunteers with the children at all times, washroom guidelines, check-in/check-out procedures, and providing a nut-free environment (further details on policies can be obtained by speaking with the Children's Minister or an Elder, and additional accommodations can be made for any unique allergy, health, or safety concerns for your child).

Above all else, the children's ministry of First Baptist Church desires to build authentic relationships with your family as we do life together and walk alongside each other in the journey of growing in Christ-likeness
